God has given us a job - go & invite people to His banquet - our job is to simply do what He asks.
God, give me a willing heart, a bold heart that is not afraid to talk about You, a wise heart that knows when to talk and what to say & when to be quiet, and a compassionate heart that loves all of Your children like You do. Amen
"When to be quiet...." That is an important one for me. I sometimes fear that my openness will lead folks away. My prayer is that I don't give God too much to clean up with my chitter chatter.
ReplyDeleteMy question is this....
ReplyDeleteGod invited his special friends originally to the wedding feast (which I'm assuming means the wedding feast in heaven,) but they threw away his friendship and so he instead invited everyone else, open to the public. Is this a symbol of His relationships with the Jews? They mistreated him and so he allowed himself to be known to the gentiles.
great question! thoughts, anyone?
ReplyDeleteI think you hit the nail on the head Bondie. I believed this verse is gospel (good new) for the gentiles. For you, for me.... for anyone who has ears to hear or eyes to see. Great observation!
ReplyDeleteHey Lana - I think that's the right understanding of these verses - but I would add that even though God gave the Jewish people the incredible opportunity of setting them apart as His own (and the huge responsibility that went along with it) - still He ALWAYS knew He would extend that invitation to all people.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like He planned to go only to the Jews, but that didn't work so He had to go with plan B.
No, it was always His plan to invite all people to be His. I'm sure thankful for that!
